Klippan in Skåne has a long tradition of papermaking. Since 1573, when the world-famous astronomer Tycho Brahe’s uncle started producing paper from rags at Herrevadskloster, paper has been manufactured here. Klippans Bruk was the very first paper mill in what was, at that time, Denmark. In the 18th century, the mill was moved to its present location by the river Rönne å. The first papermaking machine in Sweden was installed at Klippans Bruk in 1832 and remained operational until 1981.

In 2006, after a few turbulent years, three local investors, Bengt Thomasson, Roy Hansson and Olle Grundberg, restarted operations at Klippans Bruk. From having previously manufactured products such as paper for stamps, copier paper and other special papers, the company now manufactures only what is known as tissue paper for napkins. This part of the company is called Klippan Tissue. Klippans Bruk also rents out offices, production premises and storage facilities under the Brukets Industripark name.
